Welcome to Systems and Synergy!
What is it about Systems and Synergy that will benefit YOU? Good question.
“Systems are simply a set of associated or interdependent PARTS that work together to realize a purpose. Synergy is the cooperation and ALIGNMENT of those parts such that every effort in the system is both unencumbered and positively directed towards the accomplishment of the purpose… and nothing else. A nice analogy that demonstrates systems and synergy in action can be found by thinking of a group of succesful rowers in a racing shell taking part in an important competition. The rowers and their equipment are interdependent parts of a purposeful system. When they are completely synchronized with one another, in absolute alignment with body, mind, and soul striving for the accomplishment of their purpose, they are synergizing.
Rowers, orchestras, social organizations of all types and sizes, and of course individuals are comprised of many systems and sub-systems. Systems are the fundamental building blocks of effective (or ineffective) action and outcomes in our lives. With techniques and training, systems can be understood and eventually synergized to realize amazing progress and gains; from the individual through to large groups, systems and synergy are fundamental concepts to creating astounding success, as they underlie all ideas and action.
Many people and organizations do not understand the systems they have within and around them; and many people and organizations certainly don’t understand how to optimize and synergize their systems for maximum results and amazing benefits. A lot of people generally spend a lot of time wasting perfectly good energy on less than satisfactory results. Learn about Systems and Synergy and you will have garnered a set of powerful tools.” Douglas Leadbetter M.Ed.

What’s the first thing you need to know? How the game works!
Simply said, systems are interacting and interdependent parts that come together to serve a common purpose. When you understand and are able to view the systems within you and around you, it becomes possible to get the greatest possible gain from each measure of valuable energy and effort you invest.
Systems are everywhere! Systems are within each of us in such things as our respiratory and circulatory and limbic systems; they are within us in our systems of thought and our systems of action. In fact systems are countless in their shape and form within us, but there are four component parts of our personal systems that are of greatest importance to individual synergy — these are covered in detail under The Synergy in Life System tab on the tab bar above.
Systems are everywhere in our world as well! There are systems of ecology and economy, social systems, religious systems, governmental systems, systems of law, systems of philosophy… and many more.
Understanding systems is powerful understanding because when you are able to recognize the parts of a system and then how those parts come together to create a whole that serves a purpose or aim, you are able to recognize and understood a fundamental building block of loss and, more importantly, gain.
Synergy is that thing that happens when the sum of the system parts becomes more than the whole. Synergy is that intense energy you feel when you are immersed in an enjoyable activity and time slips away while you create and benefit from a potent experience…. Synergy is that powerful dance of energy that a finely tuned sports team exhibits – the team becoming more than the sum of the players as individuals. Synergy is possible for individuals and groups, but only when the the most important or ‘core’ systems have first been understood and then optimized.
From soloists to orchestras, from individuals to corporations, systems and synergy are the two most basic yet most important elements of success. They are core, fundamental, and foundational!
Yet very few people understand this!
Many of us have seen and heard about goal setting and creating vision and mission statements; we know about working harder, managing time, quarterly results…. We have seen and heard a lot of things that are designed to increase gain individually and in groups, but if the parts are not clearly defined and the relationships not understood, if the purpose is foggy, then how can we as individuals or as groups hope to create benefit from any effort, except haphazardly?!
How many people go about life and how most groups function is somewhat like taking several highly trained sprinters up in a helicopter, then chaotically dropping them off in the middle of a vast field and yelling go! Go where?! Even the most well trained athlete would suffer from not knowing the parameters of the task and the purpose, thus they would not be able to synergize their highly trained systems to perform optimally. Here’s another example: imagine pouring out a one thousand piece puzzle, throwing away the box lid with the picture on it, and telling a group that they must collaborate and create fast results. What are the rules, the parameters? What is the purpose? How could any group come together for optimal effectiveness in such a situation?
What’s needed for individuals and groups is some instruction on systems and synergy. What’s needed is a means for people to learn how to see systems, analyze, unencumber, and optimize them, and then synergize them. That’s what you will find here!
What you will find in this website and blog are the answers to understanding systems and creating synergy both for individuals and for groups. The answers are all here and will continue to be posted….
