The Subconscious
Posted on September 5th, 2009 No commentsSection #27 of The Synergy in Life System
The Subconscious
Our Ego laden conscious mind spends a great deal of time navigating, assessing, reacting to, and logically engaging our perceived outward reality. Our other mind, the subconscious mind, is largely internal and relatively unconscious. The subconscious mind is that mechanism which is involved in reflexively moving your hand to turn the page; it beats your heart, and fires the muscles that draw in and express breath. These are examples of action that exist in the realm of the unconscious that I will call the subconscious mind. It is a powerhouse. If you spend a moment to think about how our bodies naturally heal a cut, defeat a cold virus, spontaneously avoid danger, and oxygenate cells one should be greatly awed. Think of the infinite number of actions that are performed by this consciousness with grace and ease.
The subconscious is the storehouse of memory, it is central to creativity, it plays a crucial role in learning and language, is the master of habituated action, and does more than we can possibly imagine. Of extreme importance to our study of this powerful mind is this stunning fact: it listens closely to and acts upon input from the conscious mind, without judgment. Having just looked at the unbridled Ego and the sway it holds with conscious thought, this should cause a cold shudder of realization. The subconscious’s dutiful subservience to conscious thought accentuates the point that utilizing and directing conscious thoughts is necessary; directed thought is an influential mechanism for deliberately developing and unleashing the natural power of the subconscious; good input is imperative!
You likely know that scientists have proven beyond a doubt that the human nervous system cannot tell the difference between a real experience and an experience imagined vividly in detail. That is why you salivated when eating the imaginary lemon. In a sport psychology class I once took, we studied the results of an interesting experiment that demonstrated the power of directed thought fed to the subconscious mind. University basketball players were randomly selected and placed in three separate groups. Each group and each player was measured at the start of the experiment to determine their success rates in shooting free-throws. This information was used as a base-line from which improvement or lack thereof would be measured at the end of the study. Next, each group was given a task to undertake each day for a month. The first group would spend 20 minutes a day, outside of regular practice time, on the court practicing free-throws. The second group would spend 20 minutes a day, outside of regular practice time, sitting relaxed in a class-room visualizing successful free-throws. The third group did not practice free-throws physically or mentally outside of regular practice time. The results were astounding. When measured again after one month, the control group who did nothing beyond regular practice demonstrated little or no improvement in free throw abilities. That makes sense, and as you would expect the group that spent twenty minutes a day on the court physically shooting for twenty minutes after each practice session demonstrated a marked improvement in their free-throw accuracy and skill. Astonishingly, the group that sat in the classroom visualizing had the same level of improvement in accuracy and skill as the group that stayed on the court an extra twenty minutes a day! This improvement was completely the result of high quality input being fed from the conscious to the subconscious and then to the body’s nervous system. Astounding and powerful information for your use!
This study proves that the conscious mind has an important role when working in a positive and directed manner with the subconscious. That is why belief is so important to this system. The conscious mind provides input to the subconscious in the form of both structured and unstructured thought, and the subconscious will accept the beliefs and conclusions of the conscious mind without judgment, act upon them and feed that information to the body and to our life-force mechanism; therefore, good input must be deliberate and purposeful because the Whole Self will react to and resonate with what we think about most. It just makes good sense.
The subconscious has an important role in working both with the conscious mind, the body and our life-force. The subconscious will work feverishly to look for and find the name that is resting on the tip of your tongue; it will bring forth information and memory to the application of a task at hand; it can become a source of creative energy and inspiration; it will regulate the body’s functioning and guide habituated action; and, it will react to thoughts and emotions created in the conscious. The final point is the most important, and is worth stating in the positive: when it is given the right guidance and is motivated by healthy inputs from the conscious, the subconscious will avail its own massive power to provide insight, intuition, inspiring and creative thoughts, and it will work towards the realization of the input provided; further, it will gather with and through life-force and Universal Consciousness everything needed to realize your desires; it will pass along healthy inputs and help to nourish and develop the body, and it will do so with grace, ease, and power. It simply craves the thought structures provided by the conscious mind and will act on them immediately and completely. The subconscious is the primary bridge to body and individual life-force and thereby indirectly to the powerful generative energy of life-force reverberating throughout the entire universe. The installation of consciously generated healthy input will have profound effects upon the Whole Self, and it will be due largely to the work the powerful subconscious does with what it is given. Let’s look at the relation that the body has to the whole.

The Grameen bank and You
Posted on June 15th, 2009 No commentsThe Synergy in Life System — Section 20
Ever heard of the Grameen Bank? No collateral, No legal instrument, No group guarantee or joint-liability. And… unlike many banks right now, this one is doing FANTASTICLY well!
If there was ever a story worth telling it is of the Grameen Bank and Professor Yunus. He is a pioneer or magnificent magnanimity. Below is the 20th excerpt from my book The Synergy in Life System. Please read about this Nobel prize winning professor and how he helps others. It has a bearing in your life too.
Helping Others
Some will say that they cannot or should not have affluence because there are so many poor and unfortunate people in the world who have nothing other than misery in their lives. As you likely are deeply concerned about the plight of poor and unfortunate people, you should spend some of your time helping them. You can help them best, however, not by giving them some form of material things that will keep them in their place, but through giving them the power of hope and by developing pictures of affluence in their minds, and by helping them to realize their deserved expression of life. The Community Earth Council Movement
Posted on March 10th, 2009 No commentsMargaret has provided the following comment:“I would suggest anyone who is interested in the power of groups taking action to look in to the Community Earth Council movement.”
The Earth Council site welcomes you to their page with the following statement, followed by even more introduction:
Community Earth Councils (CECs) are groups of elders (50+) and youth (16-28) working together to address global environmental and social challenges at the local level. CECs build community, helping young people find meaning and purpose while providing elders with a way to give back, inspire, and impact the future. Participants in a CEC explore how, together, they can bring vision into action.
First, however, they spend time getting to know each other, sharing their stories, hopes, and aspirations. They then explore possible projects for addressing a community need, possibly by partnering with other individuals and/or organizations. After a period of planning, they move to implementation, working shoulder to shoulder.
Is this not worth doing something with… about? Anyone with any connection to this that would like to comment. I am watching the numbers on this site, and they continue to grow — a lot of onlookers? Anyone have a contribution on this topic?

Purposeful, harmonious, directed thought and resonance
Posted on March 8th, 2009 No commentsPurposeful, harmonious, directed thought and resonance… If everything everywhere has and is energy, then there is a great logic to learning to understand and gain control of energy. If you resonate with anger and resentment, that’s what you’ll get. If you resonate with purpose and optmism, then you are developing a condition of what you want in your life. This is section 12 of The Synergy in Life System. Enjoy. Thanks, Douglas Leadbetter M.Ed. Read the rest of this entry »

Balancing Systems
Posted on February 26th, 2009 1 commentA system that has an aim or a goal balances over time. Kind of like our body and the constant flux we are in to keep a constant core temperature of 98.6 F. Or thereabouts. This flux is called homeostasis and that simply means a balance over time. We get a little cold, we put on a jacket or a sweater. A little hot and the sweater comes off. We work hard, we sweat. Get cold and we shiver. All of this is part of our overall aim of … well, survival.
A thermostat in a house balances over time. Set it at the temperature you want and it reacts to changes in the internal environment of your house. It gets a little cold, the heat kicks in. It gets too hot, the heat comes off. You know how this works. The goal of this system is to keep a constant temperature over time.
These are examples of systems with an aim or a goal, balancing over time. Now, let’s say you have something you want to achieve or a goal to be reached. You WILL experience undulations — highs and lows — over time. Knowing this is liberating. You ever experience this? You are feeling great and full of energy and you make some plans to work-out, lose weight, paint the entire house, learn how to play stocks…. And then a week later, you don’t feel as high and the stuffing comes out of your plans. Well, this is a system that is finding the mid-point, finding balance. Many people feel the low and give up. THE LOW IS NORMAL! Knowing this allows you to feel out the low, experience it for what it is, recognize it, carry on and find the balance of the system.
Take this information to the bank. Think about it a bit. Everyone has rhythms — everyone. The ability to see and understand those rhythms and experience them for what they are without trying to get away from them — that’s wisdom. And wisdom is a path. Follow your systems for a while and see where they lead. Do you get manic? Depressed? Can you through gaining an objective view point, change habituated behavior? Can you find points in the system to leverage, and others to simply allow to play out? You can. Of course you can. Work with this idea. Its about seeing the systems and working with them for greatest effect — for high performance. All the best.

A Mind Bending Experience
Posted on February 21st, 2009 2 commentsHad an excellent day yesterday. I invested in learning. Learning from some pretty cool people. It was a mind bending experience!
At this site, we talk about and are developing the systems of the individual towards the massive positive power found in synergy; and, we talk about and are developing the systems of groups towards that same power of synergy.
What I found out yesterday from Will Richardson is just how interesting and powerful a web of connections there are in the effective use of the Internet. His day long conversation with our group was inspiring and at the same time uncannily related to the development and refinement of systems. PASSION is one of my favorite words as it can be used to describe something that is meaningful and purposeful, live-giving, and interesting. One person passionate about any topic creates a force. Many people working together to enhance and challenge one another’s understanding about a topic of common passion creates an elemental force! Read the rest of this entry »

The Synergy in Life System… book. Section 9
Posted on February 19th, 2009 No commentsVibration
Let’s look at what most people know from past experiences while continuing to develop the concept of pervasive vibrating energy. Most people have at some time during science class in high-school or while watching an informative television show been told that matter is made up of various groupings and combinations of atoms with their orbiting electrons and protons which oscillate about each other in a vibratory movement, maintaining a fixed spacing from one another. And, these ‘solid’ materials are at the deepest level vibrating energy which is the building block that builds the particles that build atoms. It makes sense that something is at root of all things, yet all of the things that the average person can see and experience in daily life as solid such as a table, a chair, a rock for example are at their most fundamental and basic level, concentrated forms of vibrating energy; furthermore, each of the differing types of matter experienced in our reality is a concentration of energy that is vibrating at the rate that constitutes that particular type of matter. It’s true, and understanding this truth builds an impressive platform to launch many profound thoughts, choices, and actions. Read the rest of this entry »

Synergy…
Posted on February 14th, 2009 No commentsSynergy
The true power, true synergy comes when focus is given to the vision of the person or of the group. It is when a focus is placed on the ideals, values, and beliefs of a person or group that synergy has a possibility of occurring. In individuals it occurs when focus is complete and not forced. There are techniques for achieving this state. For groups, it occurs when shared focus is clearly articulated and communicated, and each person on the team or in the group gives their effort to their individual role – knowing the function of their role and their purpose in achieving the overall vision of the group.
As an individual, as it is in a group, the vision and purpose must be articulated. A ship at sea is rather aimless and wastes a great deal of energy if there is not port to sail to. So it is with individuals and groups. The trick is in the techniques used to achieve synergy. The keys to this system is being laid out for you in The Synergy in Life System posts and in the book; the keys to achieving synergy in groups is on the way….

“GSCS: built on quality service and client benefit”
Posted on February 10th, 2009 No commentsIn these GreenSeed Consulting Posts, you can have a closer look at the areas of expertise offered by GSCS.
Problem Identification:
Ø Social Systems Analysis: in order to influence positive change, you require objective information about your present social system state and conditions, and you may also need someone to point to the complicated issues that are rarely mentioned, or are ignored. Candid information is difficult to get or give when you are part of the system you are analyzing. GSCS uses qualitative and quantitative measures developed from systems training and research. A four step process is used to paint a clear picture of your current climate and culture: (1) interview key staff individually to determine perceptions and determiners of climate and culture; (2) develop, administer and collate a site-specific feedback tool; (3) analyze and discover existing fluidity and impediments; (4) present a picture of the current environment with suggestions for discussion and action. *Information from participants will be kept confidential.
· Benefits to Client: a candid social systems analysis is provided with suggestions for positive action based on systems research and understanding.
Ø The View on the Line: as an outside resource with a signed confidentiality agreement, we can ask the tough questions and provide the unbiased answers; we provide management with direct, candid, and confidential feedback. *Information from participants will be kept confidential.
· Benefits to Client: (i) we present an unbiased picture showing you how procedures, processes, and current directions are perceived from the workers’ point of view; (ii) useful in producing positive relations and growth, solution focused information is gathered and presented for discussion and action.

More Effective Just By Listening to Music?!
Posted on February 5th, 2009 No commentsMore Effective Just By Listening to Music?!
During the 1970’s I was introduced to a book called Superlearning. I can still remember the book and the many lessons within it though I was young. The single most important part of this book was what it taught me about increasing effectiveness and success through music and learning — particularly Baroque music. Hey, why not make learning and performing easier and more effective and save time? ! You’d have to be crazy not to go with this research… Read the rest of this entry »
