  • A chance meeting

Posted on September 1st, 2009 drl No comments

I was out riding today.  Took my mountain bike along the old railway trails that run for 100’s of kilometers around the lower island.  Met a man.  An older man who had just rode 115 k’s and was on his way to do another 40 or so in the afternoon.

To say that I was impressed is to state it lightly.  Especially when I placed his age in the 70’s.

He was so interesting.  His perspectives on the world were enlightening.  Leaving the Ukrain as a child and moving to Canada;  as an observer in several eastern European elections; as a retired medical technician; as an outdoorsman, cyclist, park host… We talked for at least two hours.

His perspectives on life were summed up in  a statement he made to me: “you cannot plan the next hour, only live it.”

and, “a person is not good because of his race, creed, or color; and he is not bad because of it: a person is either good or bad in spite of his race, creed, or color.”

Ahhh. Philosophy in the rain-forest!  Didn’t get his name — didn’t seem to matter to either of us.  Did get his vibe, however.  Alive, healthy, wise, happy, and doing alright financially.

I am ever grateful to have met this kindred forest spirit.  So clear in thought, so kind, generous, and exceptionally interesting.  I really do hope that he remembers the website address that he asked me for and does drop by for a visit or to say a few words.

    Namaste all.

The Synergy in Life System — Section 21

This next section reminds me of the dynamic tension needed to play a sport well or to do well playing an instrument, or to excell in the arena of academia, or being an excellent craftsperson… etc.  The dynamic tension I speak of is that needed concentration on the task at hand — that complete being in the moment — coupled with a gentle, positive mindset.  Too much mental focus, or ‘forcing’ will not allow the flow needed to excell.  To flow… you must flow.  :-)

Gratefully appreciating and allowing is a mental state.  A mental state that is concentrated, dynamic, and pleasantly positive.  A dynamic balance.  Is there a better state of mind?!

    Gratefully Appreciate; Gratefully Allow

Gratefully appreciate and gratefully allow affluence to be your natural state.  Gratefully appreciate what you have now and gratefully allow yourself the correct belief that you are meant to express life fully and with joy, meant to enjoy abundant affluence.  Be grateful for and nourish the health you have now.  Give fuel to that health by noticing it, exploring it, appreciating it and expanding upon it.  Be grateful for and nourish the wealth you do have.  Give fuel to that wealth by noticing it, exploring it, appreciating it and expanding upon it.  Be grateful for and nourish the happiness you do have.  Give fuel to that happiness by noticing it, exploring it, appreciating it and expanding upon it.  Gratefully allow affluence to abundantly increase in your life, as it is meant to.

Gratefully focus upon what you desire with such clarity and enthusiasm that you leave no room for other thoughts and actions.  Focus your mind upon affluence.  Believe in affluence, give thought to affluence, and feel it within you, for this authentic triad of belief, directed thought, and feeling is the first experience you will have with a concept that will be given more attention later called Inner Management. For now, however, and in logical progression, Step three is to gratefully believe in the rightness of your desire for affluence with such force of thought, intensity and pervading feeling that there is no room left within you to hold contrary thoughts or to take contrary actions.  Give everything to your positive development, save nothing for the negative.  Affluence was intended for you upon your inception, and now you must prepare to meet it at the source.  Pursue your natural expression, resonate with your natural expression, and gratefully appreciate, gratefully allow.

  • You are Who You are … Now

Section 19 of The Synergy in Life System.

You are Who You are Now – Not Who You Were

No matter what you believe you were, you must understand that you are only who you are right now.  Now is the only true reality, and the only moment that actually exists.  You are not the story of your past.  If you do not like your past and perhaps think you are unworthy of affluence then change your now, as you cannot change your past.  You have only NOW to be.  You are not your story, your past conditioning, or the past.   Read the rest of this entry »

  • Principle Centered Leadership :-)

Posted on May 19th, 2009 drl No comments

Stephen Covey wrote a great book… a great big book many years ago.  Principle Centered Leadership.    Here’s what it means to me…

Covey expends a great deal of time and effort focusing the readers attention on natural metaphors.  The enduring law of the farm is the grand, guiding theme of this book.  The first sixteen chapters focus greatly on the development of self, and they culminate in a management model called the Principle Centered Leadership paradigm. It is constructed on the following foundations: the alternate life centers of security, guidance, wisdom, and power; the characteristics of highly effective people; the resolutions of discipline, character and competence, and service; integrity, maturity, and abundance; growth; moral compassing; Principle Centered Power; communication; influence; and balance.  What does all of this mean to me? • Beyond Ego-centrism !

Posted on May 4th, 2009 drl No comments

Big word — ego-centrism.  It explains young kids.  They believe themselves to be the center of their own worlds.  Their egos are central to their experience.  Somewhere during the toddler years, almost every child has a profound experience of realization.  They realize that they are not in fact the center of the universe.  That they and others share a larger system in a dynamic dance.  Mankind had a similar – albeit slow — realization when the theories of Copernicus in the 1500’s were supported by Galileo in the 1600’s hundreds through the use of the telescope and mathematics.  It was at this time that mankind slowly began to accept that the earth is NOT the center of the universe.  An interesting parallel.

A funny thing happens when children realize that there are in fact other people that have needs and wants that might conflict with or compete with their own.  They start to group.  A new phase starts and this new phase is punctuated by the coming together with others in ways that allow groups to identify themselves.  It is an extension of ego-centrism that I call social ego-centrism.  The structure of singular ego doesn’t go away, but is largely consumed by and morphed into a group ego.  This group then thinks that they — their likes and dislikes, their drama, triumph, and difficulty — are the center of the universe.  It is from this construct that we see prejudice, distrust of others that are unlike ourselves, stereotypes, and many other less than helpful mindsets that impede growth, development, and performance.

The question that arises from this discourse is: “in your family, social group, or work-group do you transcend social ego-centrism and discover the liberated capacity for high performance, or do you live within your universe center, unable to see the systems you exist within?”    Gaining objectivity is the gaining of perspective that leads to the ability to change, adapt, leverage for power, and design systems for positive gain.  Living in the center of social ego-centrism is living lost in a tiny yet encompassing universe that generates, feeds upon, and supports itself in impotent ways.

    Can your group see itself?

  • Beliefs are Important

    Beliefs are Important

How do you operate the most powerful organ of your body? Your brain:  if it is left on its own, it reacts, runs off on recursive thinking loops, and generally does a lot of things that are not useful to your overall state of performance and success.  I wrote about the idea of directing energy in positive ways in Energy is Useful if we Know How to Use it… on the 21st January 2009.  An absolutely important precursor to our either using thoughts effectively or just wasting critical energy is BELIEF!  Scott Gallagher is a prominent key note speaker and program facilitator who helps people live more effective lives.  He delivers his inspiration far and wide and talks extensively, helping people through THE POWER OF CHOICE.  He helps people overcome addictive behavior, and fundamental to his talks is the importance of belief.  Continue with this article to read a few of Scott’s own words about belief….
