There are many people who have a great deal to say. With the advent of blogs, this desire to communicate has increased exponentially. The large university I attended for two of my degrees had 30 000 people go to class each day! In that university there were six major libraries filled with books. Levels and levels, and floor upon floor of books. Simply mind blowing — and that was only ONE university. How many more sites around the world house books?! Add to this, the blog… and well, people REALLY want to communicate. For some it is a life purpose.
On the subject of communication, I have a few well-chosen words to add. If people are going to go through with the work of reading, the writing had better make the grade. Here’s what I think:
The labour of reading should be made tenable by the sweet disposition of the words printed artfully on the page. A good read is not unlike a robust cheescake: rich. Rich as the palate can endure. Creamy and rich. Excellent cheescake is soft, moist, and velvety. When consumed it slides gently towards warm reception — each morsel a command performance, beckoning for an encore. The contents of each bite gently massage rosy, plump buds as they attend to their delightful duty. A tapestry of tastes and textures, each working with the others to satiate and please. A cheescake is intended to warm and fulfill.
Why shouldn’t we demand the same of writing? For one, there are no calories in a well written word. The labour of drawing the eyes across the page is rewarded and inspired with a good read. Information is not enough. Artfully presented information is more.
I agree, this is a great article.A successful blog needs unique, useful content that interests the readers
